This is Daniel discovering that Naomi Schiff, who is a racing driver as well as motorsport presenter who previously worked with Sky F1 and F1 TV, has now joined Canal+, the French F1 broadcast. It was announced a couple of days ago by Canal+ and everyone in France was wondering if she spoke French when the announcement was made.
He immediately says the name of the broadcast (« Canal plus ») and then asks her if she speaks French. When she answers him in perfect French, he jokingly answers in French (« Ah bah oui hein ») and then goes into the interview.
I love how genuine his reaction is and I think it shows how he has genuine interactions with people in the paddock, even with the media.
And I feel like this is one of the reasons he is loved even by the media in F1 and why everyone is so happy he’s back.
